PROGRAMS OF DETACHMENT 14
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
The Marine Corps League has long regarded the program of the Boy Scouts of America as an organization which typlifies the Preamble of the Constitution of the League. The League supports the Boy Scouts of America as they promote traditional family values to America’s youth. The Marine Corps League participates in Scouting through assistance with units, districts, and councils, in community projects, merit badge programs, and special recognition of Eagle Scouts.
MARINE-4-LIFE PROGRAM
The Detachments stands behind the Marine Corps’ M-4-L program, and offers reference and referral support to transitioning Marines coming from active duty to the civilian community.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Members of the Marine Corps League fund scholarships through donations from individual members and fund raising activities such as ushering at California State University, Fresno, sports events. Children of active and former Marines, and members of Detachment 14 in good standing are eligible for academic scholarships for attendance at accredited colleges and universities.
TOYS-FOR-TOTS
Detachment 14 assists the United States Marine Corps Reserve Center in their annual Toys-For-Tots campaign to raise funds, and collect and distribute toys to needy children.
YOUNG MARINES
Detachment 14 members will, when requested, support the Young Marines program through such venues as sharing their Marine and life experiences, aiding Young Marine instructors in class and field education as deemed appropriate, recruiting young people when the opportunity arises, and assisting with fund raising and other such activities within their ability and capability to do so.
