Obituary: Madison 'Matt" Sharp

 

Madison "Matt" Franklin Sharp passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021, at the age of 82 in

 

Fresno.

 

Matt leaves behind his wife Margaret of 39 years. He is also survived by his sister Nancy, daughters Laurie and Sandra, and stepchildren Joanne, Kelly, and John. Matt has two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren,

 

Matt is preceded in death by his brother Paul Sharp, his beloved son, Sheridan "Sam" Sharp, and three stepbrothers.

 

Matt left high school early to enlist in the Marine Corps at the age of 16. He proudly served as a field artillery batteryman and MP from 1957 to 1961when he achieved the rank of Corporal E '1 he was then on reserve until 1963.

 

After his service, Matt worked as a carpet installer and later obtained his contractor's license and started his own flooring business. Matt worked in the flooring industry in Fresno and the Bay Area for over SO

years.

 

Matt was a proud member of the Marine Corps League and a long-time member of Peoples Church.

 

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 5-7:00 PM at Farewell Funeral Services, Fresno,

CA.

 

A graveside burial was held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Neila, CA.
